Caps vs Panthers, Saturday, April 5, 2008

Yes boyz & girlz, it's time for another ROAD TRIP. This time we're going to see the Caps and we're taking the big bus.

Chris "Mr. New York Rangers" Artale (cjartale@yahoo.com) is organizing this trip.

Mark your calendar - Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 7:00 PM, the Washington Capitals will trounce the Florida Panthers at the Verizon Center. You'll want to be there for all the action in this last regular season home game.

Mary Jo Rajek is working her charms to get us a sweet deal on tickets. You'll have your choice of seat location/price. So far it looks like this:

Chris is working on the bus. Yes, I said bus - not the "short bus" this time but the big one that holds 47 crazed hockey fans. Bus fare will probably be around $25 to $35 depending on how many people go. There will be 3 pick-ups: 1st will be in C'ville, 2nd in Madison @ Food Lion (good place to re-stock the cooler), and 3rd will be in Culpeper as we're expecting a squad of relatively new hockey fans (but seasoned party goers) who did a trip last year.

Now, here is what we need from you. Shoot Chris Artale (cjartale@yahoo.com) an email if you want to go and specify your seat preference. He needs about thirty to commit to reserve the bus. But do it now before the opportunity to get the bus slips away (they have two, and one is already booked). First 47 to reply ride in comfort, next 47 take the Metro.

Note: This will be a "fun bus". Feel free to bring your favorite beverage, your spouse, your date or your spouse's date. Guys & Gals only, kids and pets will have to ride cargo.

So like they say on TV, "Send no money now" but you've got to hit the reply button. This message will self destruct in 5 seconds...

Remember, contact Chris Artale, not Sperry, if you're interested. Chris can be reached at 540-948-3305 (work), 540-948-5520 (home), or email cjartale@yahoo.com.

The Sperry Marine Hockey Club will not organize teams for the tournament, although some brave few will probably be interested in playing. Hockey for Hope, Saturday, March 22, 2008

Hockey 4 HopeEverybody is invited to attend the Richmond Hockey Fights Cancer (RHFC) annual Hockey for Hope game on Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 PM at the Richmond Coliseum (601 E Leigh St Richmond, VA 23219, 804-780-4956). It will be a "Miracle" themed game with players splitting up into teams of Russia vs USA. Trey Childs has been invited to play on the Russian side. RHFC decides all the players by committee so he's lucky to play!

Tickets can be purchased in advance for just $10 at the RHFC table at any Renegades home game or online at www.teamrhfc.com. If you purchase a ticket for this game it will admit you to THREE hockey games that day.

Trey and RHFC are looking for company sponsors much like Relay For Life. If any of you own businesses or work for companies that make charitable contributions please contact Trey Childs. He can also take personal donations in honor of someone if you would like. Sponsor levels can be found on the RHFC web site. If you are interested please email Trey Childs at rchilds98@hotmail.com.

Trey is putting his money where his mouth is as well. If he makes more than $500 in donations he will shave his hair in Russian Red Mohawk for game day. He will be more than happy to do the leg work for the sponsors. Thanks to everybody that has helped out on these events before.

Trey hopes to have another rematch between the Sperry Marine Hockey Club and RHFC soon after the March 22 Hockey for Hope game. Thank you for your help and consideration!

Lee Caldwell Charity Game, 24 Nov 2007

The Sperry Marine Hockey Club skated away with a 6-3 victory over the Richmond Hockey Fights Cancer team on Saturday, November 24 at the Charlottesville Ice Park, but the big winner was the UVA Cancer Center who received all the donations and entry fees from the game. The winner of the Nintendo Wii was Brian Reuter. Congratulations to Brian, and thanks to Trey Childs for organizing Saturday's game. RHFC leads the series 4-3.

Pictures from the game can be found at www.metapics.com, which is owned and operated by Stacey Scott and Peter Hall.
